Day 20 - Favorite Bruce Anecdote (From Him)
Hate to be boring, but I really love them all and couldn’t possibly pick just one. But I really do love when he talks about Elvis. Or the rest of the band.
Day 19 - Favorite Bruce Movie/Documentary/TV Special
MTV Unplugged, Wings for Wheels, Blood Brothers, The Promise…
I mean, I love them all
Day 18 - Favorite Bruce Springsteen Music Video
I’m a sucker for live music videos. So Born to Run, Thunder Road, Ramrod, etc.
But that Human Touch video is sizzlin!
And if anyone hasn’t seen the video of twist and shout from Basel, Switzerland in ‘88, I highly suggest you watch it!!!
Day 17 - The Song/Album That Turned You On To Bruce Springsteen
I can pinpoint the exact moment: I was sitting in my mom’s lap ten days after 9/11. Even to this day, I still consider that year the worst one of my life - coming from a big family of firefighters, I lost a lot of people who were very important to me that day. I remember for weeks I would sit in my mom’s lap and cry while we watched the news. I was pretty young, but still I was old enough to understand what was going on. Well, on the night of the benefit concert I remember being especially emotional. I was crying so hard into my mom’s shoulder and wasn’t even paying attention to anything that was going on on the tv. Then I heard Bruce’s voice. He said “This is a prayer for our fallen brothers and sisters…” and then went into My City of Ruins. I watched the rest of the performance and it just really stuck with me, even to this day I still cry when I hear the song. Anyway, that was my first real Bruce moment and after hearing that song at that time, I became a fan.
Thanks Boss for doing what you do every day.
Day 16 - A Piece Of Bruce Memorabilia You Wish You Owned
Harmonica. Preferably from a performance of The River, but one from The Promised Land would do too…
Day 15 - Favorite Piece Of Bruce Memorabilia That You Own
Is it waay too cheesy if I say “the memories?”
I guess I’d say my ticketstub and setlist collections…
Day 14 - Favorite Cover Of A Bruce Song
Tricky, because I’m not much of a fan of Bruce covers (although I will say that I do enjoy performances by The B Street Band and Tramps Like Us) - I guess I’ll go with Johnny Cash’s Highway Patrolman. Strange, I know.
Day 13 - Favorite Live Cover Performed By Bruce
Ugh so difficult. Well ever since the Pru show I haven’t been able to stop listening to Bruce’s cover of The Weight. But I always love Jersey Girl, Twist and Shout, and I Can’t Help Falling in Love (especially with his spoken intro from the 9/19/85 Oakland show).
Day 12 - Least Favorite Bruce Album
I’d have to say it’s between DD and WOAD
Day 11 - Least Favorite Bruce Song
HA, I’m not even answering this one…Well I guess you could say there are some tracks from WOAD and DD that I never listen to.
Day 10 - Favorite E Street Band Member
Aside from the obvious, it would have to be Mighty Max. Or Nils.
Day 09 - Favorite Bruce Bootleg
I guess I’d have to go with the full album nights at MSG from back in 2009. They were great shows and I love reliving the experience by listening to those boots.
Also that breathtaking performance at MSG 1/7/2000. Great boot as well.
Day 08 - Favorite Bruce Era
70’s music
80’s for that smokin hot sexy sweaty body
Day 07 - Favorite Bruce Album (Live)
Live 1975-85 for song selection
Hammersmith for its fucking genius
Day 06 - Favorite Bruce Album (Studio)
Very difficult, but in the end it comes down to The Wild, The Innocent, & the E Street Shuffle or Born to Run.
